Attention all collectors and gamers! Gods Unchained has just unveiled its latest expansion, Dread Awakening, set to debut on April 22nd. This expansion will enrich the game’s fantasy trading card collection by adding fresh, potent abilities and seven distinct Mythic variants!

The upcoming release of the Dread Awakening card set in Gods Unchained is just around the corner! This collection will introduce 132 fresh cards, featuring thirteen of them as legendary, along with two innovative card mechanics: Dreadtouched and Elderytch Mystery!

Abilities related to Dreadtouched are triggered by sacrificing one of your creatures. This seems particularly effective when combined with Afterlife effects, promising an intriguing strategy! The specifics of Elderytch Mystery remain unclear, but it appears it might be a card you can improve over time? More details are likely to be disclosed by the Gods Unchained team shortly.

Dead Awakening will feature Mythic versions of legendary cards, each boasting distinct, exclusive artwork. This set contains a total of seven such cards. After these seven cards are collected, three exclusive Promo cards will be unlocked, available only in premium packs. Premium packs must be bought; packs obtained from promotional events or as prizes are categorized as Reward packs and do not include these Promo cards.

Creating Cards in Dread Awakening

In the Dread Awakening series, there are eighteen unique cards – distributed among six rare, six epic, and six legendary – that can only be obtained by crafting. Crafting is a fairly recent addition to Gods Unchained, where players must use a designated group of cards from their collection to create these new cards. The ability to craft these cards is always restricted; it is associated with particular sets and is only available until the sales period for that set concludes.

Dread Awakening will introduce modifications to how Legendary cards are crafted. When Epic cards are utilized in the crafting process, they will be transformed into Meteorite Shine versions. It appears that the original Epic cards are consumed in the process, with crafters receiving new, Meteorite-enhanced versions of these cards instead.

What is Gods Unchained?

MetalCore is moving into the second phase of their closed beta, providing token incentives to both players and active community members.

The latest stage of the beta, known as Mech Up, commenced on April 9th, 2024, and is scheduled to continue until May 14th. There will be a break from April 23rd to April 30th to accommodate a highly confidential update.

This beta version debuts a play-to-earn feature using Marks. Participants in the beta can accumulate Marks by engaging with the game and finishing various missions. These Marks can subsequently be exchanged for MSG, the designated blockchain-based token of the MetalCore ecosystem.

Don't worry if you're unable to access the beta! You can still accumulate Marks by engaging in social quests on DeQuest. A lot of these involve typical actions like following, retweeting, and joining, but others may also require achievements within the game.

Furthermore, MetalCore is launching a transfer incentive program. They're encouraging holders to transfer their MetalCore Infantry NFTs to the Immutable skEVM network. By moving your Infantry NFTs, they will become usable within the MetalCore game and you'll also qualify to earn MCG token rewards, which you can claim at the TGE. To qualify for the additional token reward, ensure you transfer your Infantry NFT by no later than May 14th, 2024, at 3 PM PST.

MCG will serve as a token for staking and for converting items into NFTs. Additionally, players can exchange MCG for Shards, a currency within the game that is essential for virtually all types of advancement, including buying cosmetic enhancements and conveniences like rapid travel and expedited repairs.

There isn't a confirmed launch date for MCG yet, but the team is aiming to release it shortly after Phase 2 concludes.

What is MetalCore?

MetalCore is a game integrated with web3 technology, blending elements from Planetside and Battlefield. It offers a first-person and third-person shooter experience set in a science fiction universe, featuring a broad range of vehicles, soldier classes, and weapon configurations. The game organizes faction-based skirmishes in instanced environments, allowing for massive engagements with up to 100 players on each team. Players can engage in both vehicle and on-foot combat, selecting from diverse fighting techniques and support roles. Effective teamwork and strategic collaboration with fellow faction players are crucial for success.

In the Faction conflicts, competing groups strive to seize and dominate key strategic locations across the map. These strategic locations offer benefits within the game to the faction that holds them. Every participant is allotted a finite number of lives for each conflict. When a player exhausts their lives, they cannot continue in the ongoing battle. However, other players are able to step in and replace them.

MetalCore features areas designated for both player-versus-environment (PvE) and player-versus-player (PvP) interactions. Participants can construct and modify vehicles and gear in designated workshop spaces, enhancing them with unique skins and stickers. Additionally, MetalCore will facilitate the formation of Baronies, which are essentially player

Surprisingly, the Eternal Dragons have proven to be less everlasting than their name suggests. Almost eighteen months after they released their initial alpha version, the team behind Eternal Dragons has declared that they are discontinuing the game.

In the midst of mostly upbeat updates from the web3 gaming scene, we must share some regrettable news. Eternal Dragons, a game in this community, is completely discontinuing its operations. The game's development has been halted, and plans are in place to shut down the servers, website, and Discord in the near future.

Last year saw a significant rise in popularity, but now, a shortage of players and continuous financial issues have abruptly stopped another game in its tracks. Eternal Dragons, despite its innovative approach of incorporating NFTs to aid and share profits with professional players, failed to draw enough of an audience to sustain its development.

For holders of Eternal Dragons NFTs, there's a bit of positive news. The team behind Eternal Dragons has announced plans to repurchase Genesis Dragons and Eggs from users. This repurchase program is limited to items from the Genesis collection, as the option to hatch new eggs has been discontinued. They are offering $30 USDC per Egg and between $12 to $120 USDC for Dragons, depending on their rarity. Although this may not fully compensate those who invested heavily in these NFTs initially, it offers some consolation compared to the usual outcome of receiving nothing when a game ceases operations.

Concluding Remarks

It may appear otherwise at times, but not everyone is destined for victory. Regrettably, Eternal Dragons falls into the category of those who don't succeed. From my perspective, their game lacked engaging elements. However, the idea of their Player Cards is intriguing and could pave the way for future NFTs inspired by this concept.

Player Cards functioned as a financial stake in a specific professional player, enabling holders of the cards to receive a share of the player’s earnings from tournaments and various events. This method offers a valuable financial resource for professional players and simultaneously lets fans engage actively in the experience, instead of merely observing from the sidelines.

However, Eternal Dragons appeared to lack innovation in their gameplay and in their integration of other NFTs, which resulted in a dwindling number of players and diminishing interest from external observers.

Eternal Dragons was an online game that utilized web3 technology, focusing on automated battles where teams of dragons competed on a grid-based map. The initial alpha release of Eternal Dragons occurred in December 2022, incorporating NFTs that were based on the Solana blockchain.

Illuvium Beta 4 and Token Distribution

The concept of play-to-earn has gained significant traction this year, yet Illuvium is set to surpass its competitors with a token distribution valued at more than $23 million! This generous allocation will benefit participants in the forthcoming beta release as well as those who have engaged with the Illuvium ecosystem.

The upcoming Illuvium beta 4 is making waves with its play-to-airdrop feature. Interestingly, distribution of tokens has started even prior to this release!

On April 14th, the Illuvium team captured a snapshot as a token of appreciation for participants actively engaged in the Illuvium network. This group encompasses individuals involved in staking within the ILV and Sushi liquidity pools, buyers of Illuvitars, owners of Illuvium Zero land, and those trading on the IlluviDex. A generous total of 50,000 ILV tokens has been allocated as rewards for these contributors!

Coming soon, Illuvium is set to launch a "play to airdrop" initiative coinciding with the release of Beta 4. This campaign will distribute 20,000 tokens during the testnet stage of the beta and another 180,000 tokens during the mainnet stage. The mainnet beta will be accessible to all participants.

Illuvium has set aside a total of 250,000 ILV tokens for these airdrops, which, according to my calculations, are valued at about $23 million! The specific date for the token airdrop has not been announced yet.

ILV serves as the governing token within the Illuvium ecosystem, enabling holders who stake their tokens to receive a share of the earnings from the IlluviDex.

Further Insights on Illuvium Beta 4

Beta 4 marks a significant milestone for Illuvium, anticipating the initial integration of its three existing games. The specifics of how this will be implemented remain unclear. However, it is evident that Illuvium is encouraging players to thoroughly examine these and other aspects throughout the beta stages. Therefore, expect that some of the airdrop rewards might be allocated to participants who identify glitches and contribute comprehensive feedback and testing.

Additionally, there will be ample opportunities for casual gamers to obtain tokens. If you're interested in participating in the initial airdrop stage, make sure to enroll in Private Beta 4. Sign-ups are currently open and will continue until April 30th. The testnet is scheduled to go live on that date for 10,000 participants. You can sign up using your Immutable Passport.

Illuvials can be stored on items known as Shards, which function similarly to collectible cards, encapsulating the core essence of an Illuvial. These Shards can be traded in the game's marketplace or exchanged among friends.

Illuvium features a dedicated trading platform called the IlluviDex, which acts as the primary hub for all transactions related to Illuvium. Additionally, Illuvium incorporates a governance system with a Council that undergoes periodic elections.

Yuga Labs Divests HV-MTL and Otherside to Faraway

This week, Yuga Labs unexpectedly revealed that it has sold the HV-MTL and Otherside brands to Faraway. With this acquisition, Faraway gains ownership of the intellectual properties and the majority of related NFT collections, and has committed to advancing the development of their gaming projects.

Faraway, originally known for their basic online shooter game, has successfully established a presence in the gaming industry. This presence is expected to expand significantly with the integration of their recently obtained intellectual properties, HV-MTL and the Otherside!

In addition to transferring intellectual property, there is also a shift in staff roles. Spencer Tucker, who formerly served as the Chief Gaming Officer at Yuga Labs, will take on the role of Chief Product Officer at Faraway.

Is Yuga Labs shifting its focus from web3 gaming? It's difficult to determine definitively. Additionally, buying 25 cards in a single transaction ensures the receipt of at least one gold foil card.

Furthermore, buying each promotional card earns points for a chance to win prizes in a lucky draw, such as out-of-print card packs, plots of land, and Runi NFTs, with the total value of the prizes exceeding $100,000.
